More Than Just a Kitchen Reno

One issue involved the kitchen. The family felt the space was closed off from the rest of the main floor. This was largely due to a layout that also limited how much useful counter top and storage space fit into the room. In addition to concerns about the kitchen, the clients wanted their bathrooms updated with a particular focus on storage. Combining these updates with a number of smaller improvements created a main room that truly transformed the rest of the home.

Building Trust, Delivering Excellence

Unfortunately, our clients were concerned about finding a reliable contractor to work with for the project due to a previous experience that was not so positive. We were happy to help restore their trust in the industry by providing a respectful experience that involved their input. Our transparency and hands-on method of designing and implementing home renovations assured the family that they’d be happy with the results.

A Grand Entrance

We started at the side entry of the main floor. This area lacked flow and was often passed through quickly without a lot of use for the space. Our transformation not only gave it a sleek new look that the clients loved, it also introduced a wide range of storage options. We pulled space from an extra stairway in the area and built a spacious mudroom instead. There’s space to sit to remove boots or muddy shoes so less mess enters the rest of the home. Guests and family members alike can store coats, umbrellas, and more in the built-in closets and shelves. There’s plenty of unique hidden storage for seasonal items and outdoor gear that the family wants to keep ready to go.

Opening Up the Heart of the Home

After the entry way, we focused next on the family room and kitchen. Removing the walls that separated these spaces created the open concept layout our clients wanted. This added space to the kitchen that transformed it into a more functional space that’s also more appealing for gatherings. A bright white palette of materials like quartz counter tops and a matching back splash creates an airy and light-filled feeling. It’s also easy to keep every inch of the space clean thanks to wipe-clean materials. The kitchen has the look of luxury thanks to brushed bronze pulls and faucets, but the durable flooring and stain-resistant counter tops are practical choices for a busy family.

In addition to taking out the separating wall, we also gave both rooms a new vaulted ceiling. The skylight that was formerly letting light into the kitchen area was also damaged and in need of repairs. That gave us a chance to completely change the interior ceiling and add a new sense of height and space. The modernized kitchen skylight is much more attractive and will last longer without causing issues for the homeowner.

Seamless Outdoor Flow

Aside from addressing the skylight, we also integrated a patio door entrance to create new opportunities for flow in and out of the home. Combining this entryway area with the combination of both vaulted and flat ceiling areas was quite a challenge, but our team tackled it with pride.

A Symphony of Skills

This was no simple renovation project, and we pulled in skilled contractors from many industries to accomplish the goal. The project called for skilled welding, roofing, and structural work while maintaining the integrity of the ceiling throughout the changes. Even small mistakes could have resulted in major issues, but clear communication and intensive management ensured it all went smoothly. We held regular team meetings to keep everyone on the same page, updating the homeowners as necessary so they knew exactly what to expect. In the end, the finished effect of combining the patio entryway, the new skylight, and the vaulted ceiling was well worth all the effort. The space is much more visually impactful and welcoming than before thanks to an airy feeling that is unmistakable when you enter.

Second Floor Sanctuary

While our focus was on the main floor, we also completed a number of updates to the second floor for our clients. The Master Ensuite wasn’t quite up to their needs anymore. We pulled space from the existing closet to create a spacious walk-in shower area with a separate bathtub. A new vanity introduced a pop of color to the bathroom design while also introducing useful storage opportunities. We also added marble tiling to the wall behind the bathtub that matches the flooring. This created an accent wall effect while also offering the practical benefit of protecting the wall from any water that splashed from the tub.

In the shared bathroom, a new walk-in shower was added for practically. Another separate bathtub was added for soaking and relaxation, along with a geometric wall tile design that gives this space a modern look.

To finish it all off, we removed popcorn ceilings throughout the space, refinished the main staircase with metal railings, and swapped the front door for a new model with a more stylish look and greater security. Now our clients have a fresh and updated space that their family can enjoy for years to come.
